Zero to Sixty: Salesman Selling Cars Getting Snarky

It’s Wednesday, so that means Leith Cars presents another edition of Zero to Sixty. This series brings videos from around the web – Okay, so mostly YouTube – that break up the monotony of the week. Whether it is an SUV traversing daunting terrains or a sports car burning out tires in a parking lot, our goal is to give you that much needed hiatus from reality on what’s known as “Hump Day.” We want to inject a little humor into this week’s selection, so it made sense to turn to a comedian.

Acura recently renewed its contract with Jerry Seinfeld to continue the wildly popular Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee web series. As part of that deal, the comedian also penned new commercials to air during each episode. In these ads, a sharp-tongued salesman dishes out odd life advice to customers who are gawking at or enthusiastically driving the all-new TLX. The theme behind the advertisements is that the Acura TLX does not need salesmen to sell the car – it sells itself. It’s up to you to “sell you.”

You can find the commercials, and other cool videos, on the Acura YouTube page. We provided a few examples below, but here are a few pieces of advice our semi-snarky salesman offers in some of the ads:

“When you’re eating soup, bring the spoon up to your mouth. Don’t drop your head down to the soup. You’re not a flamingo.”

“If you’re going to move a chaise lounge by the pool, pick it up. Don’t drag it across the concrete.”

“Don’t pop bubble wrap when people are talking. And don’t walk on it either.”

While we can certainly comply with the first two, there’s no promise that bubble wrap will not be popped if you set it in front of us. It’s just too much fun, right?

Oh, and for the record, our Acura dealerships – Leith Acura in Cary and Leith Acura of Fayetteville – will receive the much lauded TLX since production of the car did begin two days ago! It’s been a long journey, but we promise it’ll be well worth the wait.
