Zero to Sixty: 2014 Maserati GranTurismo MC

As Boyz II Men once sang, “It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.” The Fiat Chrysler Automotive group released its five-year plan for the various brands that fall under its umbrella, and that includes Maserati. While most in the industry didn’t expect too much of a shake-up, it became apparent just how serious the automaker was in setting sales goals – which includes ending production of the GranTurismo until 2018.

If you’re worried about Maserati, let us put those anxieties to rest. The Italian automaker is currently transitioning from select-market to mass-market production, which will cause some growing pains. The company decided that to accommodate some of the new models, one Paisan among the current lineup had to be temporarily sacrificed.

There is, however, no reason to feel discouraged. In 2015, we will see the release of Maserati’s first-ever SUV, the Levante. The year after, the much lauded Alfieri Concept will reach showroom floors. We all will be too busy drooling over these releases, making the next few years seem inconsequential for us and the brand.

Now, to our reason for being here today!

This week’s Leith Cars Zero to Sixty is dedicated to the tingle-inducing exhaust note and raw power of the 2014 Maserati GranTurismo MC. Whether it is mastering the race track or governing the streets, it is always our pleasure to watch this beast do what it does best.
