Best in Class: Kia’s GT4 Stinger Concept

BestInClassOur Friday series for blog posts—in case you missed last week’s—is Best in Class, wherein we choose our favorite blog post from the past week. There’s a lot to choose from since each of our dealerships has a blog that posts several times per week. Considering that Leith has more than 30 dealerships, that’s a lot of writing.

This week is particularly interesting because of the North American International Auto Show being held in Detroit, which started this past Monday. We’ve seen a lot of concept and productions vehicles for the very first time via this show, and in terms of auto news, there has been a lot more than usual.

One of these cars, however, caught our eye above all others. We saw sports cars, super cars, hybrid cars, hybrid trucks, regular trucks, and though all were impressive, there was something about Kia’s GT4 Stinger concept that we couldn’t forget. Many auto news editors across the Internet have also taken particular interest in the Stinger, and have begged for Kia to put this one into production.

For that reason, Leith Kia of Fayetteville’s write up of the GT4 Stinger is our blog of the week. Enjoy!

Today, the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) was the place where Kia unveiled a daring new design for its first-ever sports car: the GT4 Stinger.

This rear-wheel-drive coupe churns out a visceral power that truly captures the essence of a classic American muscle car. A 315-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, complemented by a six-speed manual transmission, was conjured up by the best of Kia’s proclaimed “gearheads and enthusiasts” in Irvine, California.

Other exterior features, such as a fully independent double-wishbone suspension and 20-inch wheels, provide superior roadholding. The Stinger’s weight distribution hits a nearly ideal 52/48 front-to-rear percentage; this particular setup coupled with an aerodynamic design optimizes the vehicle’s much valued downforce.

One of the most striking features is Kia’s unmistakable grille, accentuated by a glowing white lining, and surrounded by vertical LED headlights. The LED taillights, hidden by a black panel, rest between a glass panel hatchback above them and dual-exhaust ports below them. Warning: this striking design has the potential to monopolize your attention and make your girlfriend jealous.

The interior is reminiscent of old school race cars as a result of its leather bucket seats, billet-aluminum pedals, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. It is also bereft of any sound system, so as not to obfuscate the masculine growl elicited with every ounce applied to the accelerator.

Though this is merely a concept car, the automaker emphasized that they have “a history of delivering production vehicles that bear a strong resemblance to the concept that preceded them, and the GT4 Stinger provides a possible and highly provocative glimpse into Kia’s future.”

You don’t have to wait for this concept car to hit the lot in order to enjoy Kia’s sleek new designs and affordable luxury. At Leith Kia Fayetteville, we have an tremendous inventory that is sure to sate your desires!

That’s it for us this week, so enjoy the weekend, stay warm, and try to catch some of that sunshine. Until we meet again!
