Showroom and Tell: The 2014 Maserati GranTurismo

ShowRoomandTell

Leith Cars, as an automotive group, consists of more than thirty dealerships. It represents dozens of brands that produce various models and special editions. If you think about it, unless you are fiercely loyal to a single brand, purchasing a new car can be a daunting task. That’s why we developed the weekly blog Showroom and Tell: to highlight specific vehicles across our entire spectrum of makes.

Throughout the weeks and months, our intention is to introduce some of the strengths that each vehicle offers. Whether you seek efficiency, power, or luxury, this series of blogs can offer great insight to you or any friend or family member in the market. Our team also invites you to leave comments, requesting particular cars, trucks, or SUVs.

This week’s Showroom and Tell takes a trip over to Maserati of Raleigh on Capital Boulevard. Now that the Italian automaker has announced the suspension of production for the GranTurismo – only to accommodate the introduction of new models – we want to honor this gorgeous marvel of automotive engineering.

GT

A 2014 Maserati GranTurismo has every feature and design for functional aerodynamics while also optimizing its elegance and beauty – an amazing synergy that made the Trident iconic. For every engineering decision, there was a practical and an aesthetic purpose. This model is the throaty, aggressive envy of all sports cars.

GT Front

At the GT’s front end, two curved air intakes surround a distinct oval grille. This serves as the first example of amalgamating functionality and beauty. The intakes are stylistically designed but also improve airflow and effectively cool the front brakes. They also contrast the elegant blue paint and chrome marquee that graces the center of the grille.

GT Rear

Lines seemingly gambol along the side of the GranTurismo, lending it a quality of constant movement. To emphasize these lines, Maserati utilized pronounced sideskirts, available in body color or black, that also help efficiently manage airflow to the rear wheels. Couple these design schemes with sinewy rear fenders to relish an unbelievably attractive and functional beast.

GT Interior

The interior parallels the elegance seen on the outside. A chic combination of Alcantara and Poltrona Frau leather is perfectly complemented by anthracite-grey Dark Chrome trim on the dash, interior door panels, and quarter panels. A bevy of technology, for driving and entertainment, await once you’ve initiated the roar of the engine.

Now we’ve reached the apotheosis of designing a Maserati GranTurismo: its engine. A 4.7-liter V8 that generates 454 horsepower waits beneath the hood ready to pounce at the road. With a top speed of 185 MPH and a 0-60 MPH recorded at 4.7 seconds, there is much to desire in a GT.
