Zero to Sixty: The Laser Lights of the Audi R8 LMX

ZeroToSixty

Our Zero to Sixty series is about finding the most compelling video of the week to give you a jolt of energy. Finding such a video was no problem today as soon as we laid eyes on Audi’s production about its 2014 R8 LMX.

Audi is in the news this week for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, not only taking first place, but second, as well. Le Mans was the perfect place to reveal this special new version of the R8. As a vehicle that already draws plenty of attention, Audi really didn’t need to do more for the LMX version of its supercar than boost horsepower and torque.

Audi realized however that the more speed you add, the more important vision becomes. Therefore the LMX received the brand-new laser light technology, an evolving use of light that can double or triple high beams’ typical range. The effect of seeing Audi racing driver Tom Kristensen hustle the R8 LMX in pitch black darkness with the unworldly brightness of laser light is tremendously exciting and earns it our Zero to Sixty spot of the week.
