In case you don\u2019t know, Mike Manley is President and CEO of the Jeep brand, meaning he\u2019s one of the few people on earth who actually knows what Jeep\u2019s long term plans are.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Here\u2019s what he had to say<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On the next generation <strong>Wrangler<\/strong>, Manley had this to say: \u201cI\u2019m delighted in the way it\u2019s turning out,\u201d he said. \u201cNot just from a styling point of view, but also from the overall (standpoint of) what a Wrangler stands for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2754\" src=\"#BLOGPATH#\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-shows-its-20-hurricane-turbo-engine_2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"new jeep\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.leithcars.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-shows-its-20-hurricane-turbo-engine_2-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.leithcars.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-shows-its-20-hurricane-turbo-engine_2-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.leithcars.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-shows-its-20-hurricane-turbo-engine_2-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blog.leithcars.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-shows-its-20-hurricane-turbo-engine_2-1536x1023.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/blog.leithcars.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-shows-its-20-hurricane-turbo-engine_2.jpg 1621w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When asked about the <strong>2018 Jeep Wrangler pickup<\/strong>, he said: \u201cIt\u2019s looking fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.\u201d We can\u2019t wait to see this.<\/p>\n<p>On the upcoming <strong>midsize Patriot\/Compass fusion<\/strong>: \u201cThe status is very much on track,\u201d which we presume means they\u2019re on track to debut Jeep\u2019s newest vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.<\/p>\n<p>On a <strong>smaller Jeep<\/strong>, Manley said: \u201cI have a strong belief that there is the opportunity for a smaller Jeep beyond the Renegade.\u201d Adding, \u201cI think that opportunity lies outside (North America.)\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2755\" src=\"#BLOGPATH#\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/04-jeep-wagoneer-1024x799.jpg\" alt=\"new jeep\" width=\"1024\" height=\"799\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And finally, Manley clarified some details about the <strong>Grand Wagoneer. <\/strong>We don\u2019t have a direct quote, but Wayland writes: \u201cthe upcoming Grand Wagoneer \u2013 expected in 2018 or later \u2013 will be a top-end version of the large luxury SUV, not a separate vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In summary, Jeep is developing a Large Luxury SUV and the top trim model will be referred to as the Grand Wagoneer.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Right from the horse\u2019s mouth<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Provided that Mike Manley is a trustworthy guy, it sounds like we\u2019ll be seeing a ton of new Jeeps in the next two years. Hopefully they\u2019ll live up to the hype. Jeep is selling more vehicles than ever, but messing with the Wrangler and adding new models is risky business.
