Hill was preparing to race in the\u00a0<a href=\"#WEBSITEURL#\/nascar-the-drive-for-the-cure-200.html\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Drive for the Cure 200<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0September 29th at Charlotte Motor Speedway\u2019s new \u201cRoval.\u201d Timmy\u2019s advice came from one of NASCAR\u2019s old-school heritage drivers,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"#BLOGPATH#\/automotive\/taking-nascar-back-roots\/\">Gene Hobby<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">,<\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>who drove in the Grand National Series in the mid-1960s. Timmy and his Xfinity Series competition would get the first crack at this new, extraordinarily\u00a0tricky course, one day ahead of their Monster Energy Cup Series counterparts. Several drivers in both series had already crashed their race cars in practice or qualifying laps at the Roval. Timmy Hill wanted to take advantage of his team\u2019s strong, 24th qualifying position by \u201ckeeping all the fenders on the car\u201d as he said during an interview for <a href=\"#WEBSITEURL#\/zero-to-60-tv.html\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Zero To 60TV<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. The\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"#WEBSITEURL#\/\"><strong>LeithCars.com<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0Toyota Camry moved up quickly in the field of 40 cars during the first stage of the Roval, running as high as 19th place. Inside the #66 with a mislabeled brake fan switch (R).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We were told after the race by the car\u2019s owner, Carl Long, that the #66 Toyota suffered from a cascading series of failures, each of which caused Timmy\u2019s car to fade back in the field. Overheating brakes led to the use of a brake fan, mislabeled on the car\u2019s instrument panel. (Photo Credits: Moloiiiol Motion &amp; Media).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Frustrated over the inability to cool his brakes, and issues between his helmet radio and pit crew communications, Hill had to pull the #66 into the garage so the team could figure out what was wrong.
