Our Tuesday series, Real People Matter, returns now to Leith Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Wendell, where Charles C recently had a five-star experience in the service and parts department. He begins:
“I purchased a used vehicle from a private seller. After having service performed at an independent service center, [the] vehicle had some issues that I felt a dealer should look at. Brought my car in and spoke with Jerry Hazi. He quoted me a diagnostic fee and if repairs were recommended and approved, would waive the fee. This is normal for a dealership.”
We can’t speak for others, but it is certainly normal for a Leith dealership. Charles was smart to seek the dealership difference that we offer as well. When it’s a sensitive issue, you’re almost always better off leaving your car in the hand of someone who is factory-trained and certified like our technicians.
“They took me to work and within an hour Jerry called me and informed me of the problem. I had a leaking water pump. This was expected and the price quoted was about the same as I found in other places. I authorized the work and was told it would be available later in the day.”
Notice how this customer received a complimentary shuttle service to his workplace with a promise that he would have information as soon as we did. After this, Charles’s experience gets more interesting:
“After another hour had passed, Jerry called and informed me that there was another issue. The bolts used on the pump had corroded and they might possibly break. This would require more labor and time. He asked that I come down to look over the car and he would walk me through what they proposed to do. I knew that this needed to be done, but was way outside my budget. I authorized the continued service and the worst happened. This was going to take a while, so they loaned me a car and started the repairs.”
As can happen when you purchase a pre-owned vehicle from someone that might not perform the same detailed inspection as a dealership, Charles’s car needed more maintenance than anyone had previously realized. We of course offered him a loaner car, but the real issue at this point was the customer’s budget. Luckily for Charles, our service manager, Jerry Hazi, knows how to take care of people.
“The repairs were more complicated than expected, so to save time and energy, not to mention cost, Jerry ordered the timing chain cover and adjusted the labor and pricing to meet my budget. He worked with me to repair my car and keep the necessary cost to a minimum. Due to the higher repair cost than initially expected, they gave me the time to arrange my finances and loaned me a car to use.”
Our staff was able to accommodate Charles’s needs, ensuring that his vehicle was in working order and that the service was affordable. We also kept him on the move, providing him with a means of transportation every step of the way so the he could continue to clock in at work. Read how he summarized his experience:
“I am extremely satisfied with the service, repairs, cost, and scheduling … I am glad I chose Leith CDJR of Wendell. I found their service pricing to be competitive for work performed by people who know the product. I will be using them again for routine services and future repairs as needed.”
We look forward to having Charles back in the future.
