We write about a lot of things on this blog: industry news, vintage cars, exciting car videos, interesting new features, futuristic car concepts, business, and new models. Every once in a while, however, we like to let other people speak their mind for an unvarnished look at how people perceive the automotive world. We like hearing these thoughts so much that we made it the theme of our Tuesday blog posts, and we named it “Real People Matter” because we’re car guys and car guys like wordplay.
Today we went looking for reviews of Leith Volkswagen of Raleigh. This is one of Leith’s newest dealerships having been built in 2011. Its modern, minimalist design uses lots of natural wood, white fixtures and capacious sunlight to create a positive atmosphere. Dan from Durham wrote a review recently titled, “Friendly, No Pressure” in which he talked about the experience he and his wife had car-shopping.
“We arrived on the lot, and took our time looking over the selection. We already had our eye on the Jetta, but checked out some of the other models.”
Mood is an important element to us, and we believe in letting people proceed at their own pace. Sometimes all you want to do is look at a car yourself without getting into a whole conversation.
“Once we decided to take the car for a test drive, the dealer we would eventually buy the car from introduced himself and got the keys for us. He showed us all the features of the car, let us take a close look at everything, and then went for a spin.”
The car was a pre-owned Jetta TDI, which stands for turbocharged direct injection. It is good to take your time when looking at a car: all the external and internal design features can be overpowered by the driving experience, so we like to spend time discussing what makes the car special before hopping in.
“After the test drive, we told him we had some other cars we wanted to look at [and] he couldn’t have had a better attitude. He said, ‘I understand, do your diligence.’”
In an area like the Raleigh-Durham triangle, you have lot of places to buy cars from. Dan, after all, is from Durham, which means that he is willing to take his time to find the right car.
Dan ended up buying the Jetta, which is our favorite kind of sale. It means that after all the research and work was done, the customer made a choice that he was comfortable with. That’s our goal with people, and we were happy to play a part in that for Dan and his wife. In closing, Dan says:
“Overall the whole experience was great, and as pain-free as I’ve ever had, and so far the car has been a great purchase.”
