To us, safety is one of the biggest factors to consider when buying your next vehicle. We feel that a car’s main purpose is to get you from one place to another safely. Sure, you might want it to be stylish or to have lots of cargo space, but if it can’t properly protect you, then it’s neglecting one of its most basic functions.
Luckily, there are plenty of incredibly safe vehicles to choose from. Today, we’re going to go over three of the safest crossovers from 2016-2017.
1. 2017 Kia Sportage
The 2017 Kia Sportage is the safest vehicle on our list. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it offers a superior front-crash prevention system and easy to use child car seat anchors. The 2017 Kia Sportage also received a “good” rating in every single crash test and was named a 2016 Top Safety Pick Plus by IIHS.
2. 2016 Honda CR-V
Next on our list is the 2016 Honda CR-V, a small SUV with big storage and lots of technology. The IIHS also named the Honda CR-V a 2016 Top Safety Pick Plus, which means it received a good rating in every category. It also comes with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and an automatic braking system that detects incoming forward collisions and tried to prevent them.
3. 2016 Toyota RAV4
The third car on our list also received a 2016 Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the IIHS… Seeing a trend here? Like the other three before, the RAV4 is incredibly safe. It was also rated a 9.1/10 by Kelly Blue Book who said, “Toyota’s 2016 RAV4 compact SUV offers a small footprint, big interior, lots of cool features, and an unbeatable record for reliability and strong resale.”
